  Just returned from Paradise Beach Hotel and had a wonderful time! Like any place there are pros & cons to everything depending on your interests, preferences, etc. I will highlight... read more some of ours by topic.

Reception: Pickup from the airport went smoothly. We had to wait about a 1/2 hour as they only run at certain times but we knew this in advance. It was just under a 30 minute ride back to the hotel. The check in went very smoothly as well.

Room: there are different options so pay attention to what you pick. We were on the 3rd level of the Paradise side and there are no elevators which was fine by us. We loved the extra steps. The oceanic side has elevators. The room was quite small but that is what we paid for. It was clean & bright, comfy bed and plenty of toiletries, hot water & air conditioning. Didn't have any hand towels or wash clothes initially but got some the 2nd day. Follow the directions for the safe, they are slightly different from others. Our only disappointment was our balcony. We couldn't access it from the slider, we had to walk out our door around the corner to access it. Which meant anyone else could too. (I believe this was unique to our room as the handle was broken).

Pool: nice, clean & cool as very shaded most of the time. Not great for doing laps but had a nice area for toddlers or just sitting in that was about 8" deep only and other parts had some seating which was neat.

Food: We did the bed & breakfast and the breakfast was good. Always fruit, yogurt, egg-station & a couple hot entries like beans/bacon/eggs/fr toast/etc. I feel like I am glad we did not do the All Inclusive. You have to remember this is not a huge resort so the selections appeared limited, especially the snacks. If you have no previous AI experience it may be fine. We ate at the restaurant there twice and it was fine though slightly overpriced compared to others we tried. Two of the meals were good other two were flavorless. There were lots of other restaurants in walking distance that we enjoyed.

Beach/ocean: so beautiful! The amazing Caribbean water you imagine and about a mile long beach and the most amazing sunset! It is much narrower than many beaches I've been to so it does require close quarters for the lawn chairs but with a view like that, it was fine! We did have trouble getting chairs several times because selfish people throw their towels down and then disappear for hours.

Staff: I would have to say nearly every single employee we met were wonderful! So kind, helpful and patient as I tried to practice my Espanol!

Entertainment: almost nonexistent and what I considered the only downfall. The website states/shows Fire Show, Garifuna Show, pool table, yoga, water aerobics and none of that occurred. Which was a bummer as that was part of the reason we chose this resort. One night they did have a keyboard player. We didn't get the Activities flyer until the 3rd day when I saw it on the table. I think promoting these daily activities would gain participation and being truthful about the shows would be respected.

Gym: nice, cool, big enough and nice views. Only downside was no treadmill.

Misc: Appreciated that they had several water stations to fill your water bottles. There were many beach vendors but they were very respectful and not overbearing. If you head to the beach and take a right you can walk about 3/4 mi. to the Gumbalimba Park if you are willing to cross a somewhat sketchy bridge. It's $35 to enter and was worth it. Otherwise you can take a taxi.

If this sounds like something you would enjoy I would definitely recommend! Even with the lack of activities and entertainment we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

  This was our fifth visit to PBR and this time we brought six other family members. It’s not just the blue Caribbean waters, the tropical fauna or the wonderful... read more villas that keep us coming back. It is the excellent, caring staff that make this place! Curre, Olga, Christopher and all the staff make us feel like part of their family. And this year we were thrilled to participate in yoga, salsa classes, aqua gym and cooking classes with Andrea, the activities director. If you are truly looking for paradise, be sure to visit Paradise Beach Resort. If we could afford it, we would be living there in Roatan.

Travel tip: They do NOT allow tipping on credit cards here - bring cash to tip/pay for everything. Great water pressure in showers and provide bottled water, room is cleaned daily. Best part - you’re steps from an incredible beach with truly grateful people. Wifi is plentiful and AC is in each room. Take a water taxi for $5/pp/each way to west end. Enjoy some delicious local food at Anthony’s Chicken (west end, Gypsy, Beachers west end (owned by one of the great bartenders family), Culelu’s (west end).
